Early in the second period, he scored a goal for Edmonton – and became the fourth fastest player to reach 1,000 points in the NHL.
Connor McDavid needed only 659 matches to reach the milestone.
"It's the toughest in the league, to score goals and assists," says teammate Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, after the overtime win with 3–2 against Nashville, to nhl.com.
"He makes it look easy sometimes, but it's definitely not. Doing it so consistently is the reason why he will be seen as one of the best ever."
Legend Wayne Gretzky is still the fastest, as he only needed 424 matches, followed by Mario Lemieux, 513, and Mike Bossy, 656.
The 27-year-old McDavid has scored 341 goals and 660 assists. He was the 99th player to reach 1,000 points.
