A ninth and final SHL season. Then it must be enough for Luleå's gold coach Thomas "Bulan" Berglund. When the hockey season 2025–26 is over, he steps down.

It is a club icon who is leaving Luleå hockey in the spring.

Earlier this year, "Bulan" Berglund led Luleå to the club's first Swedish Championship gold on the men's side in 29 years. He has been the head coach since the 2017–18 season, previously both assistant coach for the A-team and J20 coach for several years.

"I have now been a coach for Luleå Hockey for many seasons and felt early on that it would be a good opportunity for a change for both me and the association. This decision, however, changes nothing, and we all have 100 percent focus on the coming season," says Thomas Berglund in a statement on Luleå's website.

As a player, he has also made himself immortal. He played over 750 matches for Luleå and was one of the key players when the first Swedish Championship gold was won in 1996.

"Thomas has done a fantastic job for Luleå Hockey, both as a coach and as a player. So he will leave us with the flag at the top. And we are convinced that he will do his utmost to make this last season as good as possible," says Luleå's general manager Thomas Fröberg.

Corrected: In an earlier version, incorrect number of years between Luleå's Swedish Championship golds was stated. Correct is that it went 29 years between the golds.
