The Norwegians Anders Mol and Christian Sörum came out hard and forced the Swedes to a timeout already after three points. Hölting Nilsson and Andersson certainly played up, but lost the first set with 19-21 in the end.
In the second set, it was never really close, as the Norwegians – at the top of the beach volleyball world ranking – pulled away to the numbers 21-13.
It's sour, of course. Maybe above all in the second set, we never get up to level, says Jacob Hölting Nilsson to SVT Sport.
The eighth-ranked Swedes made it to the final by beating their compatriots, Olympic Games gold medalists David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig.
Hölting Nilsson/Andersson met the Norwegian duo earlier in the summer. That time also ended in a loss. After the match, the young Swedes – 19 and 20 years old – were praised by the Norwegians.
They are such a strong team and Swedish beach volleyball has a bright future, said Sörum after the match, reports Volleyballworld.
When we played against them today in the final, we had to do our best. The future is starting to look dangerous for us with everything that Sweden has done.
In the tournament's match for third place, the Swedes Åhman/Hellvig lost to the Czechs Perusic/Schweiner.
