The police arrested several people, where the former Belgian national team player was one of them.

The Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad writes that Nainggolan's car has been towed away and seized in a house search, and that questioning of the 36-year-old is ongoing. It is still unclear what involvement he is suspected of having in the affair.

The newspaper also writes that the Belgian's name has emerged in previous drug-related investigations, as one of his business partners was convicted of drug smuggling with a private jet for the Lebanese Shia militia Hezbollah.

Nainggolan has played 367 matches in the Italian Serie A for clubs like Inter, Roma, and Cagliari, and made 30 appearances for the Belgian national team during his career.

He currently represents Lokeren-Temse in the Belgian second division.
