The EHF Euro Cup is on the schedule, a tournament where Sweden in the autumn began with double losses in Michael Apelgren's first matches as new national team captain.
This time, he can at least be pleased to have back two of his most important players in the team; both middle six Max Darj and middle nine Felix Claar are included in the squad. Injuries prevented the duo from participating in the World Championship earlier this year when a medal-hungry Sweden did not become better than 14th.
"We were all disappointed after the World Championship where we did not get what we wanted and I look forward to gathering again and building for future gatherings and championships. It's always special to meet Norway with the derby feeling that exists and we also have revenge to take from the World Championship", says Apelgren in a press release.
On the other hand, star goalkeeper Andreas Palicka and both left sixes from the World Championship, Lucas Pellas and Hampus Wanne, are missing. All are struggling with various types of injuries.
Two debutants get the chance at the same time: Guif's Nikola Roganovic, 18, and HK Malmö's Felix Montebovi, 19.
"They are two players we believe very much in for the future and Nikola has been with the A-national team on several training sessions earlier and Felix was with us for a while during the World Championship preparations in Malmö in January", says Apelgren.
Sweden meets Norway in two matches in three days, on March 12 in Avicii arena in Stockholm and on March 15 in Trondheim. The other teams in the EHF Euro Cup, which consists of nations that are directly qualified for the European Championship 2026, are Denmark and France.
