BBC reports that the record was broken with Leeds' acquisition of Milan striker Noah Okafor for approximately 223 million kronor.

Six clubs have broken their own recruitment records: Liverpool, Brentford, Nottingham, Bournemouth, Sunderland and Burnley.

Most notable is Liverpool's monster purchase of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. The deal landed at 100 million pounds but can, if all additions are activated, grow to a full 116 million pounds, equivalent to approximately 1.5 billion kronor.

The current British transfer record is held by Enzo Fernández, who went from Benfica to Chelsea for around 1.3 billion kronor in 2023.

Arsenal bought Swedish attacking star Viktor Gyökeres from Portuguese Sporting for approximately 700 million kronor.

Another Swedish star, Alexander Isak, is rumored to be leaving Newcastle for Liverpool. In the event of a deal, Isak can further boost the record. There are rumors of a giant sum of over 1.5 billion kronor.

The transfer window for Premier League clubs closes on September 1.
