155 employees at Sveriges Radio have signed a petition against the plans to shut down the joint research department and library of the public service companies, writes Journalisten.
Journalism will become worse without a research department and a library, says initiator Louise Epstein to the newspaper.
The announcement that Sveriges Radio Förvaltning, SRF, will save 16 million kronor came last week. The austerity package includes, among other things, that around twenty people have been notified of redundancy and that the joint research department and library used by employees at SVT, SR, and UR will be shut down.
Louise Epstein thinks it is "outrageous" that the public service employees were informed about the decision only after it was made. The petition urges Sveriges Radio to offer those who lose their jobs at SRF employment at SR.
