Special effort in Malmö after new wave of violence

The police in Malmö have launched a special operation following the latest wave of violence with a fatal shooting, an explosion, and the discovery of dangerous objects.

Special effort in Malmö after new wave of violence

It concerns primarily increased presence on Rosengård and around Möllevångstorget. The effort is for safety-creating and crime-preventing purposes, says the police's press spokesperson Patric Fors to Aftonbladet.

The effort, called Albert, will continue as long as it is needed.

It was on Monday, in the middle of the day, a 25-year-old man was shot to death in the Rosengård district. An 18-year-old is detained, suspected of the deed.

During the night to Friday, an explosion occurred outside a restaurant in central Malmö. Simultaneously, the national bomb squad neutralized a total of three suspected hazardous objects at the restaurant and in Rosengård. According to the police's assessment, it was hand grenades in all cases.
