The Moderate Party politician Sophia Jarl became nationally known last year when the bourgeois government decided to shut down the cultural administration in Norrköping. Instead, the operations would be organized within the Growth and Development Office, which sparked strong reactions in Cultural Sweden.
Several artists, such as Tomas Andersson Wij and Stefan Sundström, refused to book performances in Norrköping after that.
But now Sophia Jarl's reign in Norrköping is over. Since the Liberals and the Christian Democrats announced that they no longer have confidence in the municipal council chairman due to "The Moderate Party's leadership problems", the Moderate Party says that Sophia Jarl will be replaced so that the Bourgeois Cooperation coalition can continue to govern.
We are ready to make a change, says the Moderate Party chairman Ingrid Cassel to Norrköpings Tidningar.
The Moderate Party, however, wants to keep Jarl as group leader and tells SR P4 Östergötland that they want Jarl to continue to have a role as municipal councilor in the government.
