The Government has appointed Susanne Thedéen as the new National Antiquarian and head of the National Heritage Board.
"I take on the task of National Antiquarian with great commitment. With determination, I will, together with my colleagues, develop the relevance of the authority and cultural heritage work in societal development", says Thedéen in a press release.
Thedéen is a civil economist and holds a PhD in archaeology. She was the county museum director at Gotland Museum from 2017 to 2022, when she was appointed as senior antiquarian at the National Heritage Board.
Since Joakim Malmström left the post of National Antiquarian in March this year, Thedéen has been acting National Antiquarian. She will begin her employment on Thursday and will become the 33rd National Antiquarian in order.
