”Idol” is a program I have grown up with so it feels extremely honorable to be a part of it now, says Badreh.

It was not a difficult decision for him to take the job when TV4 got in touch. Despite having a lot of TV experience, it was still a tough new task to meet so many people in a short time.

You are thrown into situations where you have to get to know the person and based on what they say, the interview or program takes a different direction. It's obviously challenging but I love the spontaneity anyway, says Badreh.

A lesson has also been that the most genuine moments happen on the spur of the moment.

One should let go of this need to control and be prepared. The best is when I just let go and follow along.

His task is partly to pep up the participants before their audition, but of course also to comfort them when it doesn't go as expected.

Somewhere I try to remind them that it's almost more important that they have the trait of daring. That's something they'll be able to carry with them in life, more than they need to go far in "Idol" to succeed, says Behrouz Badreh.

What I love about the program and a big part of why I said yes was that I love meeting people.

The new season of "Idol" starts on Saturday, August 23 on TV4 and TV4 Play.
