The Danish Accident Investigation Board AIB has completed its investigation of the incident on November 14, when a SAS plane was forced to turn back halfway to Miami due to severe turbulence above Greenland. As eyewitness accounts have indicated, AIB confirms that one of the engines was shut down.
"After a short time, at a suitable flight level, the crew successfully restarted the affected engine," writes AIB investigator Carsten Trige Pedersen to TT.
"The aircraft's safety system in combination with the crew's handling and decision-making stopped the event from escalating."
AIB will not conduct further investigations.
The incident was investigated in Denmark because it occurred over Greenland, which is Danish territory.
SAS has previously stated that the more than 250 passengers on board were never in danger.
