Sweden's growth is in Europe's bottom league and Swedish unemployment is record high, according to the Social Democrats.
We see that groups are affected by unemployment that normally do not, says Ardalan Shekarabi, labor market policy spokesperson (S) at a press conference.
Want to see crisis package
The party wants to see a crisis package for families with children and jobs. The Social Democrats do not present concrete proposals for the crisis package, but are working on it in the upcoming budget. Damberg refers at the same time to previous proposals in S's budgets – including increased child allowance, not changing the level of high-cost protection for medicines, and not abolishing the temporary housing allowance for families with children.
S also demands measures on the labor market and in education, as well as getting the housing construction going.
Damberg does not want to go into how many billions the crisis package should cover.
Do you think Sweden is in an economic crisis?
We have an unemployment crisis and a situation that is serious. Although the government has delivered large budgets in recent years, they have not gotten consumption going. It is a wrong choice, then you need to change the policy, says Damberg.
"Have lowered taxes"
In a written comment to TT, Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson (The Moderate Party) says that the government has lowered taxes on jobs, pensions, and savings "and we intend to continue doing so".
"We Moderates will prioritize families in the autumn budget, therefore we are putting an economic protection package on the negotiating table", Svantesson says further, referring to the budget negotiations with The Liberals, The Christian Democrats, and Sweden Democrats.
