The murderer has already been convicted. But eight years after the murder, remains of the victim, a 31-year-old man from Gothenburg, have now also been found.
A skeletal part found south of Stensjön in Mölndal in October has been confirmed to match a man who disappeared in 2016, according to the police.
"The discovery site is in an area that was of interest during the investigation of the murder," says Sofie Konkell, lead investigator of the serious crimes section in Greater Gothenburg, in a press release.
It was in September 2016 that the man left his residence to buy cigarettes. But he never came home again and only now have remains of him been found.
"It feels very good that we've finally been able to give this news to the relatives. I also hope that we'll find the remaining remains so they can get closure after eight years of uncertainty," says Sofie Konkell.
Despite the body not having been found, a man was sentenced to 14 years in prison for murder in 2019, a sentence that was later upheld by the court of appeal.
