”Yesterday I received an ultimatum from the Left Party's highest management to leave all party assignments for the Left Party and to inform them of my decision within a day. I am deeply disappointed and angry. The fact that I am now being excluded from the party is in itself a painful and unfair process."
The party confirms that an expulsion case has been initiated.
Member of Parliament Daniel Riazat has also been urged to leave his assignments, he writes on Facebook.
Urged to leave
On April 7, Member of Parliament Delgado Varas shared a post on social media where it was claimed, among other things, that "Zionist Jews" control the world through control over politics and banks.
The party leadership believed that Delgado Varas had shown poor judgment on repeated occasions and that she therefore cannot represent the Left Party in the Riksdag, and in May she was urged to leave her assignments.
This was criticized by Daniel Riazat, who sat on the party board. He called the decision that Delgado Varas would not be allowed to represent the Left Party in the Riksdag "one of the biggest scandals in the party's history".
The Left Party confirms
Maria Forsberg, party secretary, says in a statement to TT that Daniel Riazat, who has since left the party board, has acted inappropriately and "in a way that is not compatible with holding a trust assignment for the Left Party".
"I informed him of this and urged him to leave his trust assignments. I have been informed that he refuses to do so. Because of this, an expulsion case is now being opened. Lorena Delgado Varas was given time to resign herself but chose not to cooperate and an expulsion case has also been opened for her", says Forsberg.
Daniel Riazat writes that he does not understand on what grounds his expulsion is taking place.
"The message I gave them this afternoon was that I WILL NOT leave my assignments or the political commitment as such", he writes.
TT is seeking Lorena Delgado Varas.
