Remains of what is believed to be migrants from sub-Saharan Africa have been found along Tunisia's east coast.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, a total of 13 bodies were found outside the coastal towns of Salakta and Chebba, according to the authorities.
Tunisia and neighboring Libya are popular departure countries for migrants hoping to make their way to Europe by sea. The journey across the Mediterranean is long and dangerous: so far this year, over 340 bodies have been found off Tunisia's coast, after the migrants' poorly maintained and often overcrowded boats capsized.
Last year, over 3,000 people died on their way to Europe in the Mediterranean, according to the UN's migration agency IOM.
