The shooting occurred last year in October in Mölndal outside Gothenburg. The grandfather, whose grandchildren had previously been part of a criminal network in Gothenburg, woke up to a bang and in the morning, bullet holes were discovered in the apartment door.
In the district court, two men were sentenced to 16 years in prison for attempted murder and serious weapons offenses. A third person, a 15-year-old boy, was also sentenced for involvement to closed youth care.
However, the court of appeal significantly reduces the sentences, reports Mölndals-Posten.
One of the men, who is 35 years old, is sentenced by the court of appeal for, among other things, serious unlawful threats to five years in prison. The other man, who is 25 years old, is sentenced to four years and six months in prison for, among other things, aiding and abetting serious unlawful threats.
The boy is sentenced for serious unlawful threats and serious weapons offenses to youth care.
The damages to the elderly couple are also reduced from 256,200 kronor to 106,200 kronor.
The court of appeal states in its judgment that the perpetrators did not intend to kill, but only to intimidate.
