A advertising campaign for jeans where the American actress Sydney Sweeney participates is accused of racist undertones.

In American Eagle's campaign, Sweeney, who has been seen in the TV series "Euphoria", sells jeans with a slogan that reads "Sydney Sweeney has great jeans", writes NME.

Now, critics mean that the pun has racist undertones, because it sounds like "Sydney Sweeney has good genes" in English. "Having a blue-eyed, blonde, white woman and focusing her campaign on having perfect genes feels strange, especially considering the current situation in America", writes one of all critics on X.

The campaign also aims to increase awareness of domestic violence, and all revenue from the series that Sweeney has designed goes to the non-profit organization Crisis Text Line. But the ad has also received criticism for being tone-deaf and not reflecting the serious subject.
