Uppsala Nursing Home Faces Internal Threats and Resident Neglect

Employees who threaten their colleagues with their "gang criminal relatives" and the elderly who fare poorly. These are some of the alarms from a municipal nursing home in Uppsala, according to the municipality's own investigation.

According to the investigation which UNT has taken part of, there are serious misconduct on the accommodation. Among other things, a resident is said to have been found seriously injured in dried blood. Staff are also said to have lacked knowledge of, among other things, routines in case of deviations.

Caroline Blomberg, department manager at the care and nursing administration in the municipality, tells the newspaper that several of the problems have been known since before, but that previous measures have not been effective.

The situation is unacceptable, I think primarily of the residents and their relatives.

Furthermore, she tells the newspaper that more measures will be taken. Among other things, staff will be trained in how to act in case of deviations or in cases of violence and threats.
