Max Novak won the long-distance race in Orsa Grönklitt over 61 kilometers. A bad omen before Vasaloppet in two weeks?
One would probably rather not win the last race before "Vasan". But I have a new chance not to win tomorrow. I'll take it, maybe, says the 29-year-old to SVT and admitted that he is superstitious.
Novak, who finished eleventh in last year's Vasaloppet, won Saturday's long-distance race after passing Norwegian Eirik Sverdrup Augdal in a sprint finish up the final climb.
Norwegian Emilie Fleten won the women's race over 61 kilometers ahead of Jenny Larsson, who came second.
On Sunday, both men and women will compete over 13 kilometers in Orsa Grönklitt.
