Municipalities around the country are reviewing their routines for one-on-one work at preschools after several high-profile cases of sexual abuse against children, reports P4 Gävleborg.

In Ljusdal, all one-on-one work has been permanently stopped since it emerged that a male childcare worker had subjected nine girls to sexual abuse at the preschool. Recently, a young man was also charged with aggravated rape of a three-year-old girl at a preschool in Flen where he was employed.

A survey sent out by P4 to municipalities and district administrations responsible for preschool activities shows that the abuse has served as a wake-up call.

Of the 225 respondents, over 90 percent state that one-on-one work occurs. 68 of the respondents say they will review their routines regarding this. According to P4, this involves, for example, having more staff and collaborating more.
