The fire was intense in a row house in the Flacksta district of Eskilstuna during the night leading up to Monday.
The rescue service was alerted just after midnight that a fire had started in a carport connected to the row house, and had spread.
When we arrived, the fire was raging in the attic of the row house, said Henrik Dewoon-Thoren, duty officer at the rescue service, initially.
The affected row house and a neighboring row house had to be evacuated, a total of ten apartments. No one is reported to have been injured in connection with the fire.
People are said to have gone out voluntarily, said Henrik Dewoon-Thoren.
By 05:30, the rescue service had scaled down its operation.
We have withdrawn most of our resources and are only maintaining surveillance at the moment, says an alarm operator at the rescue service.
