"We want to make people aware that they can be guilty of data breach if they use these services", says Jan Olsson, Noa's IT crime center, in a press release.
The email addresses have been accessed by the police in connection with various raids against organizations that provide these services. According to the police, it often involves young people who are not aware that it can be criminal to carry out overload attacks.
Even the police in 35 other countries, which are part of an international cooperation, have or will issue similar warning emails.
"We hope that this can deter perpetrators who may think it is risk-free to expose companies, organizations, and the general public to cybercrime", says Jan Olsson.
