A vital message to the public (VMA) has been issued to residents in central Hudiksvall due to a fire in an apartment building with heavy smoke development.

Everyone in the area is urged to go indoors and close doors, windows and ventilation.

Large parts of the property are on fire and according to the rescue service, it is said to have started in the form of a stove fire in an apartment that has spread to the attic.

The fire is not under control and risks spreading further in the building. However, we do not see any risk of spreading to surrounding residences, says Jens Hermansson, duty officer at the rescue service, to TT at 19 o'clock.

According to Hermansson, all residents have been evacuated and there are currently no reports of physically injured persons.

Probably, the extinguishing work will take all night.

The police are also present at the scene.

We have set up barricades and are helping with evacuation and gathering of residents, says Per Bjurström, RLC commander at the police.
