Woman in Gävle Charged for Receiving Sickness Benefit While Working Full-Time

A woman in Gävle was on full-time sick leave – at the same time as she worked full-time. Over 100,000 kronor was paid out incorrectly to the woman who is now being prosecuted for benefit fraud, writes Gefle Dagblad.

The woman, in her 55-year-old age, was sick-listed in 2022 and then received sickness benefit. Two years later, she returned to working part-time – to only after a month again apply for 100 percent sickness benefit.

The reason was that she had deteriorated in her illness, which was certified by a doctor.

But after the Enforcement Authority announced that she had received salary payments, the Social Insurance Agency initiated an investigation into her case.

It was then revealed that the woman had worked full-time while receiving sickness benefit – a total of 101,745 kronor.

The accused woman says in police interrogation that the doctor thought she could go back to work and that she believed the Social Insurance Agency would regulate the amount later.

She has been reported to the police twice before for similar crimes.
