She writes in a comment that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs "has received information" that Thailand has used Gripen planes in the border conflict.
"It is of the utmost importance that international law is respected and that all parties work for dialogue and a peaceful de-escalation of the situation," she continues.
The Gripen planes are said to have been used in an attack targeting military targets in Phu Ma Kua and Ta Muen Thom, according to The Nation, which Expressen first reported.
The attack was "successful" and neutralized the intended targets, the newspaper further writes. American F16 planes were also used in the attack.
Much suggests that this is the first time the Gripen has been used for a military attack, according to several people with knowledge of the matter for TT. Swedish Gripen planes participated in the NATO-led operation in Libya in 2011, but it was a reconnaissance operation.
Want to buy more
Thailand has 12 Swedish Gripens of model C/D and Saab signed the first contract with the Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) related to this in 2008. The country is in the middle of negotiations to buy more Gripens from Saab.
Such a deal could be affected by the ongoing fighting.
"We are of course following the development and naturally hope for a peaceful solution to the conflict as soon as possible. Questions about how Thailand uses its Gripen aircraft must be addressed to the Thai authorities," writes Saab's press officer Mattias Rådström in an email to TT.
TT seeks comment from the Inspectorate for Strategic Products (ISP) - the supervisory authority over Swedish companies' export of products that have military uses.
"Each individual case"
Maria Malmer Stenergard points out that if a future sale of more fighter jets becomes relevant, the issue must first be tested by ISP "based on the situation prevailing at the time", and continues:
"A comprehensive assessment based on the regulations is made in each individual case."
At least 32 people have been killed on both sides in the escalating conflict between Thailand and Cambodia that broke out on Thursday. Tens of thousands of people in the border areas have fled their homes.
Both sides accuse each other of having fired first in the bloodiest fighting between the countries in a decade.
