A large police operation was initiated during the night in the area around Ikea in Barkarby.
We received an alarm at 00.12 that a person had been shot and injured at the airport entrance in Barkarby in Järfälla, where we then found the man, said Jan Mårtensson, duty officer at the Stockholm police, earlier in the morning.
The man was found near Ikea. According to the police, he was shot there or in close proximity to the location. They do not want to comment on how many shots he was hit by.
The police have searched with dog patrols and a helicopter in the area, checked vehicles and people, and interviewed witnesses. But by 07.00, there is no suspect or person arrested for the murder.
We are finished at the crime scene and now an investigation is taking over with internal surveillance. We will review surveillance footage and see if the technical investigation yields anything, says Niklas Berglund, duty officer at the police.
The man is described as partially known to the police from before.
Corrected: An earlier version stated the wrong age of the victim.
