Over 200 civilians have been killed in a three-day attack on villages in southern Sudan, reports the organization Emergency Lawyers, which documents human rights violations in the war.
Among the dead are women and children.
The paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) attacked unarmed civilians in areas where there is no military presence, and carried out "executions, kidnappings, forced disappearances and looting", writes the organization.
RSF has been at war with Sudan's army since April 2023. Tens of thousands of people have been killed in the war and over twelve million people have been forced to flee in what the UN describes as the world's largest refugee crisis.
