The Author Centre East receives continued support from Natur & Kultur to expand the reading promotion project, the purpose of which is to strengthen the role of non-fiction in school education.
"Through creative and inspiring author visits with some of Sweden's leading non-fiction authors, students are given tools to be able to absorb different types of texts and develop their critical ability," says Elnaz Baghlanian, operations manager at the Author Centre East in a press release.
Students in grades 3-9 in rural and socio-economically disadvantaged areas will, within the framework of the project, be given the opportunity to meet non-fiction authors over the next three years. Currently, locations such as Tierp, Borlänge, Heby, Tensta, Norrköping, and Håbo are included in the project. With expanded support, the regional initiative will become national, so that the role and importance of non-fiction can be highlighted in schools across the country.
