Music Aid

This year's edition of "Musikhjälpen" has reached its goal. In the end, over 60 million kronor were collected – the second-highest amount in the fundraising program's history. I had a feeling in my body that we would beat last year, says program host Linnéa Wikblad to TT.

The marathon-long live broadcast, which was shown on both Sveriges Radio and SVT, began on Monday. On Sunday evening, it came to an end and the three hosts – Linnéa Wikblad, Assia Dahir, and Emil Hansius – were released from the cage on Stora Torget in Sundsvall.

Stayed Healthy

Linnéa Wikblad is glad that she managed to stay healthy this year – unlike last year when she was banned from speaking for a day.

I experienced it as a bit less strenuous this year, since it's the second time for me. You're more aware of what's going to happen and save energy when everything isn't new all the time, she says.

"Musikhjälpen" 2024 exceeded last year's collection by a million margin, reaching 60 million.

I hoped until the end that we would beat the record from 2017 in Umeå (of 74 million, ed. note), but those in Umeå got a crazy amount, so I'm still satisfied. We've worked hard for our 60, says Linnéa Wikblad.

Are you tired of asking for Swish?

In the end, you start to feel like you almost don't have any more Swish-begging in you. It's clear that you're extremely tired of hearing yourself say "come on now, Sweden". At the same time, the last hours are when it can really get exciting. And it becomes incredibly thrilling.

Hockey on Top

In total, 73,000 song requests have come in to "Musikhjälpen" this year. The three top songs that were requested can all be linked to hockey teams in SHL. Linnéa Wikblad blames last year's host Sofia Dalén for the hockey fever.

She has a character named Börje who is a municipal official in Jönköping and loves HV71. Then she started playing that song and I assume that other hockey teams thought "hello, our song then?" and then it became what it became. So now we're a hockey-Christmas-charity-radio-and-TV-program.

How do you feel about hockey songs?

I'm extremely uninterested in hockey. But I have to say that hockey songs are really bangers. So you can understand why they do well – and especially in this type of format.

The ten most requested songs in Musikhjälpen 2024:

1. "Håå vee" – HV71

2. "Bröder" – Stiko Per Larsson

3. "Muskler av Stål" – Luleå Hockey

4. "Hey Ho (Original Version") – Freddy Kalas

5. "Tik power" – Razorheads

The ten most requested artists in Musikhjälpen 2024:

1. HV71

2. Taylor Swift

3. Stiko Per Larsson

4. Hooja

5. Kent
