The score was 0–0 and the game was in extra time when the Kosovo players left the pitch in Bucharest. According to AP, there were also fights between players from the two teams.
The European Football Association (Uefa) states on its website that the match was stopped – but does not explain why.
"The Uefa Nations League match between Romania and Kosovo has been interrupted. Uefa will communicate further information in due time", the organization writes.
Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia in 2008, which Serbia has not recognized. The two teams do not play each other in Uefa and Fifa tournaments.
Serbia was fined by Uefa in June this year, after a banner with a provocation against Kosovo was displayed during the European Championship match between Serbia and England. During the 2022 World Championship, disciplinary measures were also taken against Serbia after the team hung a flag in its dressing room depicting Kosovo as part of Serbia.
