"Otto comes from a strong Junior World Championship and we of course had hopes that he would come back to us with high energy and take further steps during the rest of the season", says SHL-club's sports manager Oscar Alsenfelt on the website.

"Now, St Louis and Otto have instead come to the conclusion that his development would benefit the most from moving to North America already now and we don't think it's in our interest to try to force players to stay with us."

The 19-year-old played for Frölunda during his junior years and debuted in the SHL-team during the 2022-23 season. He was on loan to Karlskoga for a period last season. This season, Stenberg has played for Malmö, where he played 25 matches, scored three goals and made three assists.

He was drafted by St Louis in 2023.
