"It means that this is the end of something, at the same time I've always said that the day I can't give my all in training or have the drive, then it's better to quit. It has grown on me during the autumn when I haven't felt that it's been as fun with training, at the same time I still love playing matches and everything around it," says Rieks.
The Dane joined the club in 2018 and has since, among other things, won four Swedish Championship gold medals and two cup titles with the sky blues.
"For me, the Swedish Championship gold medals are the biggest, but also how we've performed in Europe and the journey to the Champions League in 2021 was fantastic. We eliminated four tough opponents in the qualifying round and everything culminated a bit away against Rangers. To get to be part of that journey and then get to play in the group stage is one of the biggest things you can experience and it feels almost a little unreal," says Rieks.
Before the upcoming season finale, Rieks is credited with 53 goals and a total of 270 matches in Malmö, of which 140 are in Allsvenskan.
