It was during Friday evening that a car drove into a crowd of people at a Christmas market in Magdeburg. At least four people were killed and around 200 people were injured.

"Yesterday's terrible event, with several fatalities and injuries, fills us with great sorrow and sympathy. Out of respect for those involved and their families, we have decided to request that the match be postponed", writes handball club SC Magdeburg.

Five Swedes play in Magdeburg's successful team, which won the Champions League last year. Oscar Bergendahl and Albin Lagergren are two of the players who have published heart emojis and lit candles on Instagram in sympathy with those affected.
