The reigning champion team Skellefteå secured the season's sixth win in SHL – and it came against last season's final opponent Rögle.
The road to it offered strange scenes in Catena arena in Ängelholm.
After 9.06 minutes of the second period, Max Lindholm sent a shot – which made all other players suddenly stop.
"Strange"
The only one who had a grip on what was about to happen was Lindholm himself.
I saw early on that if Rifalk (Christoffer, goalkeeper) didn't see it in the air, it was in... It was in all the time, says the 27-year-old to TV4 Play.
Lindholm's shot took a strange path. Instead of going straight towards Rifalk, it went high, high up in the air. Then it curved over everyone, bounced on the goal line, and rebounded in for the decisive 3–1.
Very strange, says Lindholm.
Such a goal, you only score once in 10,000.
Anton Heikkinen:
I was standing and checking where it went. Then I just heard us cheering... It was fun.
It was Max Lindholm who largely ensured that Skellefteå took the full points against Rögle.
He was involved in the preparatory work for Heikkinen's 2–1 after 5.39 of the second period, and then he served up the artistic goal that secured the win.
"Tough"
For Rögle, it meant the fifth loss and that the club remains in last place.
It's tough to lose again. We're in the match, creating chances to do more, but we score one goal today. It's too bad, says Rögle's Anton Bengtsson.
But we can't bury ourselves. It's about focusing on what we can influence, and that's the next match, the next practice, and becoming even sharper.
