The Liberals' member of parliament and member of the defense committee, Anna Starbrink, has been appointed by the government as the new director-general of the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). Starbrink will take office on February 24.

"Anna Starbrink has a broad background as a manager and leader in various roles in municipal and regional activities, as well as experience of service in both the government offices and parliament. She has valuable experiences that will come in handy when the new total defense decision is to be implemented, and where MSB has a central role", says Carl-Oskar Bohlin (The Moderate Party), Minister for Civil Defense, according to a press release.

Liberal Anders Ekegren, currently a member of the municipal council in Solna, will take Starbrink's place in parliament, the party announces.
