Andrea Möllerberg took up the role on November 1, 2023. She has driven several projects and change efforts during her time in the position.
However, during her time as general secretary, there has also been turmoil within the association.
In Offside's investigation, published at the end of August, current and former employees directed harsh criticism towards the work environment and the association's leadership.
It's a tough role, says Fredrik Reinfeldt, while backing the change efforts that have permeated the association.
It matters how we treat each other, he says.
Historically low value
The latest employee survey showed a historically low value on the question of whether employees would recommend the employer to others.
The criticism was primarily directed towards Möllerberg, as well as chairman Fredrik Reinfeldt and football manager Kim Källström.
It's obvious that I am self-critical and evaluate what I do, says Reinfeldt about the criticism towards the leadership.
He, however, opposes the notion that "everyone who receives criticism should leave their job".
I don't believe in that way of looking at leadership. A deeper and broader analysis is clearly needed.
"Jumping into cold water"
Reinfeldt further says that he himself has lived a "long life in popular movements" and has some understanding of Möllerberg's situation.
There are few people who get to experience having great responsibility one day and nothing to do the next. To, so to speak, jump straight into cold water. And there, we sometimes need to show humanity. I won't pretend to know what Andrea feels, but I have respect for the situation she has ended up in.
Twelve-month notice period
Regarding the criticism towards the work environment within the association, Reinfeldt says:
There are very many opinions about Swedish football. I don't share the view that it would be a silent and critical workplace as the only description.
Andrea Möllerberg is relieved of her duties but has a twelve-month notice period according to her contract.
Tobias Tibell, current head of staff, will step in as acting general secretary.
