Summer Olympic Games 2028 will be held in Los Angeles in the USA.
President Donald Trump has created a special working group that will work with the championship, and which, among other things, will handle security issues, transportation, and visas.
Trump has in an executive order appointed himself and Vice President JD Vance as chairman and vice chairman of the working group, respectively.
"Hosting the Summer Olympic Games 2028 will be a historic opportunity to unite the nation, lift American excellence, and strengthen our status as the premier global destination for major events," writes the White House.
In previous Olympic Games in the USA, the presidents have only had a ceremonial role, writes Dutch NU. The last time the country hosted an Olympic Games was in 2002 – the Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.
