”It's of course incredibly tough that our dad is now gone", writes Kenth Olsson's daughter Karin Olsson in a text message to the newspaper.

Olsson trained, among others, Julia Henriksson, Moa Granat, Johan Wissman, Peter Eriksson, and Christina Wennberg.

He began his successful stint as an athletics coach in the 70s as a national team coach, and was also the Swedish national team captain in the 90s. He was also active in Danish and Norwegian athletics.

"He had so much more to give, and was knowledge-seeking and curious to the very end. I am incredibly proud to have had him as a mentor throughout my life, and I promised to carry on his philosophy and will to continue developing athletics”, writes Karin Olsson.

Since the 70s, Olsson had over 100 Swedish champions in his training group, and he was present at five Olympic Games as a coach.

As an active athlete, Olsson took a Swedish championship gold on 110 meters hurdles in 1976.

Corrected version: Corrected distance for Olsson's Swedish championship gold. Correct is 110 meters hurdles.
