Night to Wednesday Swedish time, she defeated world eight Madison Keys in two straight sets, 6–1, 6–4.

The victory dedicated the 19th ranked Tauson to her recently deceased "bedstefar" – maternal or paternal grandfather.

I really wanted to win for him today. I really wanted to come out here and play my best tennis for him, and hopefully he's watching, said a moved Tauson after the match.

The news of death reached Tauson the day after she defeated Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals.

It was tough news when I woke up, but I think it's for the better. He wasn't doing so well for a while, she says.

Tauson has not lost a single set during the tournament. Now Naomi Osaka awaits in the semifinals, after the Japanese defeated Elina Svitolina in her quarterfinal.
