Thousands of Ikea customers in Denmark have incorrectly had large amounts withdrawn from their accounts. It appears to be a gigantic IT fault, and Ikea has delayed notification of when all the money can be refunded, writes the newspaper BT.

According to online testimony, it's about up to 60,000 Danish kroner (92,000 Swedish kronor) per customer.

"We are extremely sorry for this, on behalf of our customers and employees", writes Christian Mouroux, communications director at the furniture giant in Denmark, to BT.

The newspaper quotes a customer who claims to have received the answer that the 60,000 Danish kroner that disappeared from the account will be returned "in 2-5 days".

"In the meantime, we have to apologize to our bank and skip paying bills, including the children's preschool", writes the customer.

Most amounts should already have been refunded, according to Mouroux, who also promises to provide information about the rest soon.
