Isak's tribute: "They're talking about him in England"

Alexander Isak, Dejan Kulusevski and Viktor Gyökeres are the hottest candidates to win the Golden Ball of the year. But it's not a topic the national team's super trio talks about. We all do our best to perform. We are fully aware that it's not in our hands how it's voted on and how it's selected, says Isak.

Do you think about winning yourself?

Actually not. Such things are just a bonus. I think more about having a fantastic season, both in the club team and in the national team.

But he is, like everyone else, impressed by Sporting Lisbon's forward Gyökeres' performance.

The Swede is linked, among other things, to Manchester United since his coach Ruben Amorim took over the Premier League giant.

We've seen it for a while now, we Swedes at least, what he's capable of and the level he possesses. It feels more now like the whole world is starting to talk. In England too, they're talking about him. Unbelievably fun for him and for us in the Swedish national team that we have such a player, says Isak.

The lid on about Arsenal

Isak, back in the national team after a toe injury, is also the man of rumors. There's a lot of talk about Arsenal. But there, the lid is on.

Throughout my entire career, I've never talked or commented on transfer rumors during the season. There have been many years where it's been talked about, and I've said it doesn't affect me. I've commented on my situation in Newcastle. I'm fully focused on my task there and that we'll have a fantastic season, which there are still great opportunities for. I have no thoughts of anything else.

This Alexander Isak can at least reveal: It takes a lot to start playing golf.

He's happy to follow out on the course. When Emil Forsberg, Victor Nilsson Lindelöf, Anton Salétros, and Kristoffer Nordfeldt teed off in Marbella on Tuesday, he joined the foursome.

I was there as support for the guys. I was a caddie, drove the car. I was basically just there to get some sun and some peace.

Good duo

You can't swing?

I've tried sometimes. I would have needed Robin Quaison with me, he and I were a good duo out there.

Sweden concludes the Nations League with matches against Slovakia (Saturday) and Azerbaijan (Tuesday).
