Poland's captain and goal-getter Robert Lewandowski will miss Sunday's European Championship premiere against the Netherlands due to a thigh muscle injury.
"We're doing everything to get Robert fit for the second match against Austria", says national team doctor Jacek Jaroszewski to the Polish Football Association's website.
The 35-year-old Lewandowski was forced to leave early in Monday's European Championship warm-up against Turkey, but immediately afterwards the tone was still optimistic regarding the severity of the injury.
Pawel Dawidowicz and Karol Swiderski also got injured in the warm-up, but both are expected to be back in full training later in the week.
In the group stage of the European Championship in Germany, Poland will also face France.
