Hammarby suffered a major setback on Sunday when they lost 1-3 away to Sirius. This meant that Mjällby had the chance to increase the gap down to the second-placed team to eight points with a win against Gais.

This is what happened. Gais created the most chances and forced Mjällby's goalkeeper Noel Törnqvist to make several qualified saves in the second half. But Mjällby took three points after Manneh and Herman Johansson took advantage of their chances.

We had a feeling at halftime that we would go out and increase it. Then they really take momentum. So we are sharp when we get a chance and then it turns over. It was a damn relief, says Herman Johansson to Max after the match.

The 1-0 goal came in the middle of the second half. A long ball from the visitors' defense line reached all the way to a forward-storming Herman Johansson, who cleverly played Manneh. The 20-year-old received the ball in the penalty area and showed no nerves when he easily scored 1-0 in the far corner. It was the Gambian's first goal in the Allsvenskan in nine matches.

Mjällby then definitively decided the match when Johansson headed in 2-0 via a corner in the 88th minute. The yellow and black team thus pulls further away in the Allsvenskan gold struggle. There are nine rounds left to play in the Allsvenskan.
