As of April 1, it will be prohibited to use laughing gas as an intoxicant in public places in Hultsfred, reports Vimmerby Tidning.

It is an attempt to limit the use, says the chairman of the municipal council Lars Rosander (C) to SR P4 Kalmar.

The municipal council in Hultsfred made its decision on the ban on Tuesday and the motive is to protect young people.

The government also wants to reduce the abuse of laughing gas, with broad support in the parliament. On July 1, all sales of laughing gas for intoxication purposes will be prohibited. Then it will also be punishable to sell laughing gas to persons under 18 years of age. Laughing gas will only be allowed to be sold in very small quantities for use in, for example, cooking.
