The man who fled on foot after his motorcycle crashed in Vänersborg has been arrested.
It was on Tuesday afternoon that the chase began after two people riding a motorcycle failed to stop for a police patrol's stop sign. After a shorter pursuit, the motorcycle crashed and one of the individuals fled the scene. The other, a 35-year-old man, was arrested by the police.
Initially, it was suspected of drug-impaired driving, says police spokesperson Peter Adlersson to TT.
However, during the arrest, a backpack was found containing a pistol-like object and another suspected dangerous object, which are now being examined and seized by the National Bomb Squad.
According to the police, the object has been deemed live. It has now been neutralized and will be transported away by the National Bomb Squad.
The 30-year-old man who fled the scene and was searched for with, among other things, dogs and helicopters, has now been arrested in another part of Vänersborg. Both men are suspected of serious weapons offenses and preparation for general endangerment.
