Louise Hansson had made it to the Olympic Games semifinal with the 15th time. The placement remained the same.
However, the time got worse.
The trial time of 1.00,26 became 1.00,47 in the semifinal.
Just over half a second above her season's best from the World Championship in February and 64 hundredths above her personal record.
It's not far from my season's best. It feels good up to 50 meters, I came in very tight in the turn and didn't get into the swimming after that, she says.
For a final spot, she would have needed to swim at 59,50, twelve hundredths faster than Michelle Coleman's Swedish record.
Louise Hansson stepped into the backstroke the day after the tearful disappointment after eighth and last place in the Olympic Games final, her second consecutive, on the special distance 100 meter butterfly.
The remaining task is the medley relay with trials on Saturday and the final on Sunday.
There, she swam the backstroke and Sarah Sjöström took care of the butterfly when Sweden took World Championship silver in February.
How the team is formed in the best way for a medal attempt in the Olympic Games remains to be seen. To begin with, Louise Hansson looks forward to having some free time.
It's been three tough days, physically and mentally, so it feels like it's going to be nice to have a day to just breathe, she says.
