An Israeli woman who was held hostage in Gaza has been killed in the northern parts of the border area, according to Abu Obeida, spokesperson for the armed wing of Hamas, al-Qassam brigades, as reported by Al Jazeera.
She was killed in an area attacked by Israeli forces, according to Obeida.
"After re-establishing contact with those who were tasked with protecting the captives several weeks later, it emerged that a woman was killed in an area that Israel had bombed in northern Gaza," he says.
Another Israeli woman who was held captive has been seriously injured, according to Obeida.
The Israeli military tells the AFP news agency that it is investigating the claim.
During Hamas' attack on Israel last year, around 250 people were taken hostage. Of these, around 100 are still being held in Gaza, with about 30 confirmed dead.
