Historically – with a mix of fear and excitement. That's the feeling when the Swedish Nurses' Association is now going on strike.

The Swedish Nurses' Association wants to see reduced working hours – so that the staff can cope. But the employer's side has said no.

About 2,000 members have now been taken out on strike, including at Östra Hospital in Gothenburg, which is part of Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The emergency department will be closed for a week.

What is the feeling among the members to leave this work assignment?

He believes that the responsibility has been exploited by the employer over many years:

Olga Nilsson, a nurse at the cardiovascular surgery department at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, believes it's time for the employers to wake up.

The chairman of the Swedish Nurses' Association repeats that they are ready to hold on "as long as it takes". The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKR) needs to meet the union's demands for reduced working hours, according to Sineva Ribeiro.

According to her, it is crucial to be able to competence-sustain the healthcare system in the future.
