The purpose is to ease the economic burden for households struggling with rising food prices.

The abolition will next year cost the state treasury 1.2 billion Danish kronor, equivalent to approximately 1.8 Swedish kronor, and over 2 billion Danish kronor in 2027, according to TV2.

According to the government, this will be the largest tax relief on food in over ten years.

The government, for example, expects that the abolition of the coffee tax will make half a kilo of coffee five Danish kronor cheaper.

Health experts have, however, been critical of the government's proposal and there has also been disagreement within the government.

I think that Danes in general are responsible people, says Minister of Economy Stephanie Lose to DR.
